Painting - Acrylic On Canvas
Description
This painting is a tribute to my mother~Margaret Rose.Birth-December 10,1915-Death-March 5,1999. I painted this for a juried show in Hampton, Virginia...2005. As artists know-sometimes we are still painting on a painting up til the time of the show-almost while the paint is still wet and hung on the wall for the exhibit.
The night before the show I was still putting more touches on the painting. I was in my art studio --looking at this painting... and it came alive for me! It felt like my Mom was there with me-I felt her presence staring back at me. It was an awesome feeling.

Hi Marlene I love it! I can see the family resemblance. I agree that this painting has a van Gogh feel. You have captured her beautiful dreamy expression and warm kind personality.

B~ yes, I do draw directly with paint on the canvas. Thanks for the cheers! I think I am going to do more paintings like this...I am itchy to do more portraits! (can't believe I said itchy-cause i had to take Benadryl today because I must be allergic to something and I hope it goes away soon. scratch scratch!

Marlene, I have always wanted to comment on this endearing painting of your lovely mother. I was always afraid that it would bring tears to my eyes because of the sensitive nature of the subject and the fact that you and I both loved our Mothers so much... But sometimes tears of appreciation and love are good. So here I am finally complimenting you on a painting that I have always admired... Shine on, Anne
