What a joy! Somehow there's nothing quite so charming as a rabbit, and yet this one reminds me that for my distant ancestors the Cherokee, the rabbit was the trickster character of story! Outstanding, unusual, and appealing work!

By refinement, I'm referring to things like you "confidence of stroke". For instance, the rabbits whiskers would look more "polished" if they were done with bold, confident brush strokes. It appears that you're a little hesitant that way with certain sections, especially when applying/making linear statements. Basically, this comes with doing and I believe if you concentrate on this type of painting approach it will come easier. You can try doing the line work with slightly thinned paint while possibly applying thicker paint to the solid, built up areas, etc. The main thing is to not be afraid in trying slightly different approaches but staying within the parameters of what you've done here.

Hello Marlene, I think this is a very creative painting. Your composition is very clever in the way the shapes of the rabbit are repeated throughout the rest of the painting. I also like the negative space and illuminated area in front of his face that keeps returning your eye to it. My only criticism would be that I'd like to see a bit more refinement in your technique...but, that's MY opinion only and FWIW. Wishing you are well, Tom Sierak

Marlene, I love your use of color in this. Very appealing. Also, thank you for your comment on my "Moonlight on the Dunes" pastel. I appreciate it very much.

Wow, Marlene your colors are brilliant. I really do like the colors that you use in your work & I also would hope to meet you too. I will be in the annual show this year. I had a brief illness the beginning of this year which prevented me from participating for several months. I do plan to be in attendance for the next one. I am very gracious for your compliments about my artwork.
